What Being A Dad Is Like

This is what it feels like to be a new Dad.

Exactly what it feels like.

You reach down and see that fresh face looking back up and you have that “Holy Sh–, that’s my child, I’m a Dad” chill going all over your body.

Don’t fully understand what it feels like to be a dad? Check out this State Farm commercial that’s running right now.

Kudos to the actor for nailing it.

The wonder. The amazement. The love. The awe. The fear. It’s all there.

My #2 is due in January and I can’t wait to have that look on my face again.

  1. I had that feeling. 15 minutes after my daughter was born, in the bathroom washing my hands. I looked up in the mirror and saw that face staring back at me — crazy hair, hipster sideburns. I looked at that face, that familiar face, and said to myself, “so… that's what a father looks like.”

Note: I did shave off the crazy sideburns a few weeks later.
