Then I watched my son write out 19 of them for his friends.
19 times he had to practice how to spell a friend’s name, and then his own.
19 times he had to make sure he had the proper spacing to fit everything in the space provided.
It took an hour for him to write out those 19 Valentines. I don’t think he’s ever done a solid hour of ‘homework’ or ‘practice’ before.
And he loved it.

Our school asked that we not send Valentines. Saving the trees and all. Makes me a bit sad.
I used to think that too.
I’m sorry, but one school stopping it isn’t going to save thousands of boxes going to the recycle bin on the 15th.
I may feel that way again in Grade 2 or 3, but with a KG kid that needs the writing practice, I’m VERY thankful for Vday.
