My son hates getting his hair cut, but he loves going to the dentist.
I mean there’ a reason we keep his hair style as a toddler-ish perm, there’s no way we can get close enough to trim an actual style into his locks. The dentist, however, was a completely different story.
I mean he even let them FLOSS! Wow. Was so impressed by the kid.
We did, however, catch a bit of a scolding from the dentist and hygenist when it came to the soother.
We still let Z use it for night time and naps. It sometimes creeps into the living room in the midst of a tantrum. The reins are tight, but not tight enough.
The doc said it’s okay, not preferred, but okay when they still have their baby teeth. It’s when they turn 5/6 that the real problems can start if they continue to suck and pull their teeth forward.
It’s a fun time, transitioning to a big boy. What are your soother soothing tips?

When it was time for Bailey to give it up, I had someone suggest that the next time we saw a baby, even if it was a stranger at Starbucks etc, to say to him “you’re a big boy now and that little baby needs your soother, you don’t need it anymore”. Bailey walked over, gave it to the baby and never asked for it again. It made him feel special, that he was helping someone else out and passing the torch.
